You need a Java Development Kit (JDK) for developing and deploying Magnolia CMS. Java Standard Edition (Java SE) is recommended. Java Tutorials provides tutorials on many features of Java SE as well as training.

Check the version of Java SE installed on the platform where you plan to develop. Version 5 or higher needs to be installed in order to work with Magnolia. If the installed version is lower than 5 install a newer version.

1. Go to Java SE.
2. Click the Download on the JDK version.
3. Check Accept License Agreement and download a version for your platform.
4. Start the installer and follow its instructions.
