Maven is initialized by issuing a command that downloads a settings.xml to your computer. The file is saved into the .m2 directory in your home directory.

  1. Open the Command Prompt or terminal and go to the .m2 directory.
  2. Issue the following command:
    1. Community Edition users:
      mvn org.sonatype.plugins:nexus-maven-plugin:1.9.2.4:settings-download -Dnexus.url=https://nexus.magnolia-cms.com -Dsettings.templateId=magnolia-community-public
    2. Enterprise Edition users:
      mvn org.sonatype.plugins:nexus-maven-plugin:1.9.2.4:settings-download -Dnexus.url=https://nexus.magnolia-cms.com -Dsettings.templateId=magnolia-enterprise
    3. Magnolia Forge users:
      mvn org.sonatype.plugins:nexus-maven-plugin:1.9.2.4:settings-download -Dnexus.url=https://nexus.magnolia-cms.com -Dsettings.templateId=magnolia-forge-dev
  3. Type Nexus username and password if prompted.
    1. If you are a Community Edition user, use anonymous/anonymous.
    2. If you are an Enterprise Edition user, use the Nexus credentials that came with your Magnolia support account.
    3. If you are a Magnolia Forge user, use the Nexus credentials you received when you registered your Forge project.
  4. Confirm when prompted "Are you sure you want to use the Nexus URL: https://nexus.magnolia-cms.com?".
  5. Enterprise and Forge users only: Open the resulting settings.xml file in a text editor. Find the section(s) where a username and password are required and type your Nexus credentials into the file.
    <username>$[magnolia.nexus.username]</username>
    <password>$[magnolia.nexus.password]</password>

Maven supports password encryption.
